Final Thoughts
As I mentioned earlier our team's purpose was to bust the fairy tale myth of the medieval ages. Through much research and lessons in class I have concluded that these myths are just myths. For example knights saving princesses in shining armor and everyone living happily ever after. Not one source has confirmed or restated the following so it has led me to this decision. I think that in reality the lifestyles were almost the exact opposite; knights had no time for romance, not everyone lived happily, and the king was very busy and problematic. Finding out the truth about these myths were very shocking after being told the exact opposite of that. Many people believe that this time period was very dark and gloomy, hence the name The Dark Ages. But were the so called dark ages really that dark? Some may argue that it was not some just the opposite, but to me it was like a roller coaster. It was a series of highs and lows that went on for almost a thousand years. The first five hundred years it was a pretty dark time with constant Viking raids. The only light part of that time was Charlemagne uniting Northern Europe and building schools and libraries. The next three hundred years was a much happier time period where the middle ages rose to its peak. Agriculture increased, trade networks strengthened and the Magna Carta was signed to equalize the rights of the people. Although there was still more to come in the last two hundred years, in my opinion this was the darkest time of the middle ages. There was much bad weather, the plague had spread, and Constantinople had fallen to the Turks. In conclusion I believe that this time was just a beginning to another great part of our human history.
When making this website I thought that it was just some waste of time project that was assigned to us, but I realized that there was something more. I found out that the more I researched and listened to the lessons in class the more I enjoyed it. Not only did I enjoy the project I also learned many skills along with it. I learned how to make a website, take quality notes, and to put it into paragraphs. I thought this was very fun and I hope to do it again sometime. -Kobe
